Botswana has no coasts and has a tropical/subtropical climate. The best time for tourists is during the dry winter (the Danish summer). The coldest months are June and July, but even at this time the temperatures are moderate. October is also an excellent month to visit Botswana, even though the temperatures increase during the daytime.
The rainy season in Botswana is from November until April and is most heavy in January and February. You will find least rain in the southern parts where they receive about 150-200 mm a year. In the northern part of Botswana, however, they receive about 650 mm a year.
The temperatures can be extreme in Botswana. From October to December the temperatures are normally between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius. In the northern part of the country, especially in the Kalahari Desert, the temperatures sometimes go below freezing at night.
